Hydro denies the allegations brought forward by the claimants. The main allegation brought forward in the case is the alleged spill from Alunorte’s bauxite residue storage areas following heavy rainfall in Barcarena in 2018. Hydro reiterates that no such spill took place as confirmed by over 90 site inspections, including by the relevant authorities.
Alunorte’s and Albras’ activities in the region/in the Barcarena region are duly licensed, and operations at the plants are monitored and audited by the competent authorities.
