Albras resumes full production after February power distribution failure

Hydro's part-owned aluminium plant Albras in Brazil has completed the restart of line 2 after the power failure that led to a shutdown of one of the four potlines at the plant earlier this year.

The power failure in February 2022 led to full shutdown of line 2, affecting 25 percent of the primary aluminium production at Albras. Albras has now fully resumed production at the potline and is now running at full capacity of 460,000 tonnes per year.

Albras is a joint venture between Hydro (51%) and Nippon Amazon Aluminum Co (49%).
