The governor of Pará, Simao Jatene, along with the president of the Industries Federation of the State of Pará (FIEPA), Jose Conrado, were among those who visited the stand during the opening of the event, gathering around 5,000 people.

The visitors were welcomed by representatives of the Bauxite & Alumina business area from the Rio de Janeiro office and the plant managers from Paragominas, Alunorte, Albras and CAP project, as well as other employees from the operations in Pará.

On the stand the visitors could see samples of the different Hydro operations in Brazil, from the bauxite obtained in Paragominas, passing by the alumina produced today by Alunorte – and in the future by CAP – the aluminum from Albras and extruded products from Hydro's extrusion plant in Itu.

Aluminum products that are part of people’s daily life were also displayed on the stand to present the benefits offered by the metal of the future for the society.

The organizers of the event expected a total audience of more than 30,000 visitors, a good opportunity for Hydro to reinforce its position in the local Pará society.

In addition to businessmen and professionals linked to the productive sector, FIPA also receives a large number of visitors among youngsters and students who were seeking more information at the companies' exhibition stands at the Hangar Convention Center in Belem.

Lucila da Silva, retired, and her son Andre Luiz da Silva, a businessman from the bread-making sector, were among those who learned about the aluminium value chain on Hydro’s stand.

“It’s interesting to see how the ‘stones’, the bauxite, go through transformations to become the products presented here,” said Lucila. Her son was even more excited: “I had no idea of how aluminum was produced and I’m fascinated with everything that I’ve learned at Hydro’s stand.”

The relationship with the local society and the strengthening of the dialogue with key stakeholders were some of the main reasons for Hydro’s participation at FIPA.

“We are here to stay and that’s why we had to be present here, showing that we are engaged in the state of Pará and in Brazil, also affirming that we consider it very important to have a good interaction between the local society and our company,” say Fernando Simões Henriques, head of Operations in the Bauxite & Alumina business area.
