      Renewable energy hat-trick for Hydro

Hydro is planning the first groundbreaking for the Holsbru project this fall. In addition, the company has delivered a concession application for two hydropower projects in Sogn. Altogether, the three projects will increase Hydro’s power production by about 300 GWh.

“We have many exciting plans for our hydropower plants in the coming years,” says Ola Sæter, head of Energy.

The goal is to increase hydropower production by up to 10 percent. The projects in Sogn are three steps in the right direction.

In addition to the Holsbru project, Hydro has applied for a concession to build a power plant at Øyane and a pump power plant at Ilvatn, both in the Fortun Valley in Sogn.

The two plants will deliver 98 and 113 GWh, respectively, while Holsbru will increase the company’s power production by 84 GWh.

Hydro is Norway’s second-largest producer of hydropower, with an average power production of 9.4 TWh per year.
