      Alpart announces reduction in production

Alumina Partners of Jamaica (Alpart) has announced plans to reduce its production volume by 50 percent from an annual 1,650,000 tonnes, starting January 15.

Alpart is a bauxite mining and alumina processing company operating in Jamaica under license granted by the government of Jamaica. It is owned indirectly 65 percent by UC Rusal and 35 percent by Hydro.

As a consequence of the decision to reduce production volume, Alpart will be reducing its workforce by 250 non-permanent employees, while a further assessment of the total workforce reduction will be announced at a later date.

The reduction in production volume at Alpart will not have any negative effect on the alumina supply to Hydro's primary aluminium plants.
