Backing sustainability claims with verified data

Sven Edgren, Head of Digital Assurance Services in DNV, is an expert in blockchain technology with a focus on how companies can build trust and share verified product claims digitally across the supply chain.

Hydro and DNV are joining forces in a new pilot project using the blockchain-powered “Tag. Trace. Trust.” service developed by DNV. It allows anyone to instantly check the validity, data and authenticity of a product’s environmental profile.

Edgren summarizes how blockchain technology can add value.

“You can make the information available to many stakeholders. It could be B2B customers, or even be B2C companies and their consumers. You can invite them to look at the information at the source, go behind the scenes and check for themselves.”

He adds that increased focus on sustainability is a key driver for blockchain technology demand, with greater emphasis on traceability, product claims and CO2 footprint.

Jørgen Hanson, CSR Manager in Hydro, is excited about the opportunities this could represent: “We can now explore how new technology can provide the market and the conscious consumer with key data – presented in a way they understand and trust.”

The podcast Hydro Talks sets out to explore the modern dilemmas for industry and society. How can we create a more viable society? How can we produce better while consuming less? What should investors expect? What kind of technology and innovation can we implement to work smarter? In Hydro Talks we try to make sense out of these dilemmas. Remember to subscribe!
