All vacant positions will be posted under Open Positions. Summer jobs will be posted early in the year and internships will be posted in the autumn. We will only consider applications entered with the online application form.
Our summer jobs are often at our plants. You must be at least 18 years old, and the job is mainly manual labor. We provide housing in some areas.
As an intern at Hydro you can either work at a plant in Norway or abroad, or at our head office in Oslo. We value your time and the work you do for us. We give you real assignments and tasks you can grow with and the ability to learn from experienced colleagues. You work alongside other employees and are fully involved in the department you work for, and you learn more about the organization as a whole. The aim is that you get valuable experience and first-hand knowledge of what it’s like to work inside a large and dynamic company. You may find openings into Hydro after completing your education.
The requirements and specifications depend on the specific position, but ideally you should have a PhD, a Masters degree or the equivalent, with good academic results, in:
Chemical Engineering, Inorganic Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Process Engineering, Metallurgy/Material Science, Structural/Civil Engineering, Cybernetics, Light Metal Production, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Economics, Finance Business Administration or Environmental Energy.
Ideally, you also have no more than two years of work experience, fluency in English, and the ability to integrate easily into multicultural and cross-functional working groups.
We usually only offer internships to students with good academic results who have completed three to four years of their degree. But if you can make a good case for why you would like to apply for an internship in Hydro and why we should award you an internship, we will still consider your application.
Internships are primarily aimed at students who have completed three to four years of their degree, with good academic results, in:
- Industrial economics/technology management
- Business administration
- Metallurgy/material science
- Light metal production
- Electrochemistry and inorganic chemistry

We also value engagement through student activities, and good communication and cooperation skills.
