Meet Astrid: ‘A great focus on a sustainable future’
Astrid Malene Fiksdal, 24, is an intern in Hydro’s HR department, where she is working on how we recruit new employees. Here’s what she has to say.
From
From a small town called Barstadvik in the county of Møre and Romsdal, Norway.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Høgskolen i Innlandet and now a Master’s degree in Leadership and Organizational Psychology at BI Oslo.
Position and location in Hydro
HR intern in People Resourcing.
Duties
I am working on two projects about Recruitment and Employer Branding. One is about analyzing an existing recruitment process at the plants and proposing improvements and actions. The second is finding improvements in how Hydro recruits and secures qualified apprentices.
Likes
I like that I get to have a hands-on experience on how a global and huge company as Hydro does HR processes. In addition, gaining work experience while being a student is highly valued. Lastly, having real HR and work challenges which improves me as future employee.
Socially
It has been great. People are slowly coming back to the office, and I am allowed to come in every day. There is always someone in my team at the office, so having lunches and being sociable after the pandemic has been a great experience.
Development
Excellent. Having challenging projects while one can have colleagues to ask for guidance is great and highly valued and it makes my development better.
Goals
Hopefully, I will get a relevant HR and organizational psychology job when I am done with my degree, preferably in an HR department.
What would you say to someone thinking about working for Hydro?
Apply and do it. Hydro is a company which has a great focus on a sustainable future and will continue to do so – also the employees are great :)
