In Sunndal, Hydro operates the largest primary aluminium plant in Europe. The Karmøy plant produces primary aluminium and wire rod.  The Årdal and Høyanger plants produce primary aluminium. At the Vigeland plant, Hydro produces highly refined aluminium with 99.99% purity. Hydro also has an extrusion plant at Magnor.

In addition, Hydro wholly or partially owns and operates 17 hydroelectric power stations. These power stations produce electricity for many of Hydro’s aluminium plants in Norway. Combined, they produce about 9 terrawatt hours of electricity per year. Hydro is also operator of the Tonstad wind park in Agder County.

We have aluminium research and development facilities at Karmøy, Årdal and Sunndal, and a sales office for aluminium building systems.
