Albras donates sports complex to the municipality of Barcarena

The Albras aluminium plant has formalized the donation of a recreational area located in Vila dos Cabanos, known as “Clube 1,” to the City Hall of Barcarena in Brazil.

The space will now be destined for the public benefit of the population and communities in the municipality of Barcarena, in the State of Pará.

“We hope that this space will become a place that can serve the population of Barcarena. The donation is yet another demonstration of our ties with the city,” says João Batista Menezes, CEO of the Albras aluminium plant in Barcarena. Albras is 51%-owned by Hydro.

The donation took place on June 26. The 72,000-square-meter space has a soccer field with a grandstand, sports court, tennis court, athletics track, changing rooms, training rooms, administrative building and a leisure area for holding events. The City Hall must evaluate which will be the best use of the complex, according to the needs of the municipality and the population.

The transfer of ownership of the property to the City Hall of Barcarena was carried out in common agreement with the State Public Ministry (MPE) and awaits approval by the State Court.
